Christmas Traditions

Okay, let me start out by saying, I LOVE this time of year, especially Christmas. I love everything about it. From the decorating to Christmas Music and of course the reason we celebrate it. No it's not what you think. It's not about Santa. It's about our Lord and Savior. By far that is my favorite part! I love that my family is here, I love that we get to serve together and I love coming home from Church on Christmas Eve and knowing tomorrow will be a day of excitement, surprise and just down right relaxation. Oh, wait, I can't forget about the FOOD we consume in one single day.

Let me start out by saying, ever since my kids were little, we have a Christmas Day tradition. I typically wake up before anyone else(not intentionally) put together some Monkey Bread, a pot of coffee and make some hot cocoa. Once that is all set, I gently wake up the hubby, then the kids. In the years past, they were so excited it was Christmas Day it wouldn't take much to wake them.

Now my kids are much older, and don't have that enthusiasm of getting up early. (Insert shaking head emoji) But I sure have that excitement! So this year, for the first time, I will TRY to let them sleep in. (well at least til 8:00am, that's my plan, but probably not theirs.) The other tradition we have is to make a big breakfast. This consists of a couple different quiches, some scrapple,(IFYKYK) bacon, home fries, fresh OJ, and of course coffee. But it doesn't stop there! An hour or so later, after we all wake back up from a morning nap, I make a charcuterie board. We munch on it all.day.long. Then our last and final tradition is to have a big steak dinner. This isn't your typical steak dinner. We make a Prime Rib dinner. My absolute favorite. With all the fixings...

So there ya have it! I LOVE that we as a family have those Christmas traditions. And my one piece of advice for a family just starting out, is to start making some yourself! Trust me, the memories you will create from year to year will last a lifetime!
