Your Giftings...

Let's start out by asking this question. Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? And I'm not talking what your spiritual gift assessment said, I'm talking about what you truly think your giftings are. Today I was sitting in Church and God clearly spoke to me. He said, I have blessed you with so many things, yet you haven't seen the most important blessing... your spiritual gifts. I felt a shock come through me and it all dawned on me. My spiritual giftings are so many! My love of logistics, my love of connecting with people, my love of hosting, my love for finding broken old things and bringing them back to life, and my all time favorite, my attention to detail.(This one is a struggle for me..let me tell you why.)

My attention to detail is something that I struggle with. Don't get me wrong, I love when I can get into those nooks and crannies of either planning an event, figuring out our next house project or even just a simple girls night at my house. But I typically can't turn it off. I find myself walking into a room, and noticing something off kilter as soon as I walk in... Tell me what you see in the picture below...

See it? I'll give you another chance to look... That tree to the left? It's super crooked. And the entire time I was in that room, I kept looking at it. It distracted me the whole time I should of been paying attention to the room . I was thinking of all the other people in the room and asking myself, do you think they see the tree off kilter? Maybe when they take a break, I can go up there and fix it. But if I fix it, I'll have white stuff all over my outfit.. Oh and why aren't the lights on? It's a Christmas Tree... They have lights..I can go on and on as to what was racing through my head. You see, I can't turn this gifting off.

But is God telling me there's a reason that I can't? Yes. He's equipped me to have that eye of details, and that my friends is a blessing that I need to be thankful for.

So for all who are around me on a daily basis they will agree, I have that eye for detail and they are so amazed by it. I have to remember, that this gift is a blessing. Like God said, see the blessing in the gifting.. So I think moving forward, I need to embrace those gifts. So I challenge you to really take a look at what giftings you might not see, or you want to just turn off, and just remember God has equipped you and given you those spiritual gifts so flourish in them.

Til next time..

Mary Ellen
