Today Will Be A Good Day
Have you ever woke up in the morning and said that exact phrase? "Today will be a good day!" To be honest, I never say that. But in reality, I really should. My morning mindset is typically not the best, especially as I get older, it gets harder to get out of bed. I'm pretty sure my family thinks I look like a zombie as I walk in the kitchen, grab a cup of coffee, mumble something as I scroll through Instagram and Facebook.

I've been thinking about my mindset lately, and I really need to change it. I'm so busy at work, I tend to forget about all the great and amazing things I have in my life. So I stared to think on how I can change my mindset. For starters.. I need to stop comparing myself to others. That's a huge thing for me. I constantly look on Pintrest for the latest and greatest interior renovations, when in fact, I love my home. Or, looking at someone on TV, who has a perfectly fitted outfit on, and I think to myself, I would never be able to pull that off. When in fact, I probably could. Or here's a top one. Instagram. Oh Instagram. I follow a ton of ladies who have the perfect farmhouse, the perfect interior I want to have so desperately, and the money and sponsors to go along with that. So you see, why I'm realizing that my mindset needs some work.

So I needed to come up with a plan. A mindset plan. I had no idea where to start, so I had to pray about it. And pray more. Until God spoke clearly to me this week. Mary Ellen, just be who you are. Don't worry about what others are doing. Just be you. You are my beautiful perfect creation.
Wow. Okay. So there's that! . Like a reset of sorts. My creator loves me exactly the way I am. So today I will start to be myself, and not try to recreate an image of myself that looks like someone else's image. My new motto is "less of someone else, and more of myself." That's good, right? So today will be a good day...and so will tomorrow....
And if you are reading my blog for the first time, here's a little backstory. I stopped blogging a couple years ago, and until recently, I never thought about going back. And the day I woke up to realize that I needed to change my mindset, I also needed to get back to what I loved.
Writing about what is going on in my life. It brings me joy, and transparency. I love that. I have so many friends, who say to me, "Mary Ellen, I just love your transparency." Sometimes, I feel like I'm putting myself out there, but again, God said I shouldn't care what people think of me. He loves me just the way I am. And one more thing. I am not a writer. I've never been one, so spellcheck is my friend and the dictionary is my other. So I hope you enjoy my Flourishing Journey..
Til Next Time...
Mary Ellen
