Comfortable In Abundance
This week, my Mom sent down a Amazon Echo Dot and I think I was the only one in the family who was excited about it. Michael shook his head( As he always does when I get excited about things that have no relation to Cars or well Cars.) So I immediately opened it up, plugged it in, and said my first command. As the week went on, I started to see how amazing this thing was. I've programmed it to give me the Bible Verse of the Day, I've started a shopping list, oh and of course, command it to turn on my "Fireplace" in my room. Seriously, it's pretty cool.

What's funny is the same week, I started a devotion called Chasing Perfect. And on day 5, I read this. "When we get too comfortable in abundance, we lose sight of God. We focus on the created things, rather than on the Creator." Whoa, that's a tough one to swallow. But it's so true. Our lives are filled with abundance,( like my new Echo Dot) but sometimes feel empty because we forget to keep our one goal. Making God first.
It goes on to say, "God made creation. He delights in His creation. He made humans so we could delight in His creation as well." But do we? Think about this, If you woke up one morning, and had no electronics, no communication with anyone, what would you do? Like with Covid-19, we were forced to make a new way of life. Face masks, social distancing, working from home are the thing of the present. What if we were forced to live in His abundance until it was a way of life for us?Just remember this, He is our creator and we need to focus on that more than ever.
Listen, I'm not saying that we shouldn't love the material things we have, but when we start to focus more on them, and less of God, we then lose sight of what it's all about. This is the primary reason we feel lost, unsatisfied, and distant from God. It's the reason we are no longer on the mission.
Til next time..
